Romanian National Bank cuts interest rate for monetary policy down to 1.75%

At the meeting on May 6th, 2015, the administration Council of the National Bank of Romania has decided the following: • Reducing the monetary policy of the interest rate to 1,75% / year from 2,0% /year, starting from May 7th 2015; • Narrowing the symmetric corridor formed by the interest rate payments of permanent facilities around the interest rate of monetary policy at +/-1,50 percentage points from +/- 1,75 percentage points. Thus, starting from May 7th 2015, the afferent interest rate to  the credit facility (Lombard) will reduce to 3,25%/year from 3,5%, while the interest rate deposit facility remains at 0,25%. • Adequate management of banking system liquidity; • Reducing the installment of minimal mandatory reserves for the liabilities in RON of the credit institutions at 8% from 10 % and maintaining the currency applicable liabilities at 14% starting with May24th -June 23rd 2015.
